Job Description:
As an Optimization Engineer you will have a wide range of responsibilities focused on
developing optimization models and solvers to tackle scheduling problems in deploying workforce.
You will be a part of a team of professionals that play a key role in developing engines
and delivering results.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and prioritize market requirements via direct interaction with
external customers and internal staff including consulting, sales, and customer
support
- Work closely with R&D and the rest of product management
team to guide the evolution of the optimization solver and as an integral
part of the OWM system
- Write code, facilitate the documentation
process, design new features and working closely with software development
team
- Define product releases and make short- and long-term roadmap
decisions
- Research and develop competitive strategies to preserve
and extend FT’s optimization leadership
Experience and skills required:
- PhD, MSc or equivalent in Operations Research/Industrial Engineering/Computer
Science, 5+ years of related experience
- Solid knowledge of optimization
modeling and solving of large and complex workforce deployment across industries
- Minimum
3 years of experience in J2EE technologies
- Understanding and
experience with the optimization market, the operations research community,
the competitive landscape for engines and tools
- Excellent communication
skills in English, for both business and technical contexts
- Excellent
analytical and business research skills
Desirable qualities:
- Software product launch experience including product marketing plans, messaging,
positioning, quantifiable and qualitative value proposition creation, product
collateral, etc
- Interest and knowledge in any of the following related
areas: constraint programming, heuristic techniques
- Background
in human capital management systems
- Understanding of modeling
languages, Java, relational databases/SQL, Excel, hardware and software
platforms
- Familiarity with one or more of the primary workforce
optimization industries such as healthcare, aviation, manufacturing,
transportation, or utilities, including the planning & scheduling
applications used
