Project Manager

Function: Professional Services Location: Singapore
Type: Full-Time    

Job Description:

As a Project Manager you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the entire phase of software development and implementation: support of design, build and test efforts, management of the project plan (activities and deliverables), support of conversion and deployment activities, direction of change management activities, as well as assisting in managing the customer’s expectations. Project Managers are also responsible for reporting on the progress of the customer’s implementation – identifying, escalating and resolving issues, both critical and non-critical, that may be impeding the project; achievement of project milestones as well as ensuring that all internal stakeholders are fully aware of the customer’s expectations.

Responsibilities:

Development and Implementation Skills:

  • Provide leadership and management of project resources including FT, client and third party resources.
  • Act as the front-line contact with client representatives on all project-related issues.
  • Build and maintain a reference-able customer relationship.
  • Manage the overall software implementation lifecycle of a project ensuring compliance with FT’s implementation methodology.
  • Prepare project scope and develop project plans, define resource loading, skill requirements, milestones, and metrics per FT standard methods and practices.
  • Monitor and document project status; anticipates problems and resolves them or escalate them to appropriate level of management for resolution.
  • Assist with managing the project budget including managing of forecasts against actuals, travel and expenses and collection of receivables.
  • Provide direction for deployment and change management activities.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting monthly project billing report for finance.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the customer's management and project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with other internal departments (i.e. R&D, Customer Support, Training, etc.) to properly leverage resources to address customer needs.
  • Provide leadership in developing skills and breadth of knowledge of project team members.
  • Act as a mentor to team members and provides constructive feedback on their performance during the performance evaluation periods.
  • Properly leverage Senior and Lead Consultants to take ownership of specific accountabilities.

  • Earn trust and credibility throughout FT and the customer organization. Seeks to understand customer issues and deliver appropriate solutions.

  • Hold self accountable for work products and ensure quality of end results.
  • Anticipate problems in advance and provides solutions to minimize risks.
  • Communicate the capabilities and design of FT’s software.
  • Assist the customer in making decisions to properly and creatively utilize features to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Present solutions that are consistent with the architecture and the design of FT’s application.

Professional Development:

  • Learn and continually develop FT consulting skills.
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with other consultants, customer staff, and third party consultants.
  • Keep abreast of (new) product functionality – strive to become a product expert across multiple modules.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Required
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT Consulting, Enterprise Software Implementation and Software Integration which includes at least 2 years of demonstrated large scale Project Management experience
    • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or in other technical field required.
    • Excellent project planning, budgeting, scheduling and resource management skills.
    • Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills.
    • Solid comprehension of databases, web applications and networking environments.
    • Proven project experience with J2EE (Servlets, JSP) application implementations.
    • Knowledge of and experience with different server side operating platforms (Linux, Windows NT / 2000 / 2003)
    • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and MS Project.
    • Must possess superior communication skills (both verbal and written) inclusive of strong presentation skills.
    • Skilled in detailed requirements gathering/elicitation.
    • Candidate must be creative, hard working, team player and must support the concept of “fun” in the workplace.
    • Demonstrated multi tasking ability, analytical skills, problem solving skills and a consistent record of on time delivery and customer service is mandatory.
  • Ideal:
    • Experience with RUP or other iterative development methodologies.
    • Member of PMI and/or PMP certified
    • Experience in managing projects in healthcare industry
    • Knowledge of and experience with SAP NetWeaver platform
    • Proven experience with all phases of SDLC (Systems Development Lifecycle) implementations.
    • Background in optimization technology

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of HRM products and tools and ability to apply a variety of HRM techniques, methods, processes, and practices to varied work assignments.
  • Write documentation in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adjust to changes in priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Take initiative to achieve value-added results, within scope of responsibility.
  • Develop solutions that consider the impact on other aspects of the project.
