Technical Consultant

Function: Researh and Development Location: Singapore
Type: Full-Time    

Job Description

As a Technical Consultant you will have a wide range of responsibilities focused on providing technical solutions to meet the needs of our clients. You will be a part of a team of professionals that play a key role in implementing solutions and delivering results. Technical Consultants also participate in the full lifecycle of a client’s implementation while interacting closely with the client to meet specific needs throughout the process.

Responsibilities:

Implementation Skills:

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of a client implementation such as Requirements Gathering, Business Analysis, System Configuration, Design, Testing, and Support, ensuring compliance with FT’s implementation methodology.
  • Interact directly with the client to interpret and analyze business requirements to identify risks and design appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with the others Consultants to write the design specifications.
  • Develop solutions that extend the core FT application to implement client-specific interfaces, workflows, scheduling rules and reports.
  • Develop an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the FT application, architecture, database schema, and development tools to properly and creatively use features to meet client needs.
  • Provide guidance for business decisions from a technical perspective on issues such as performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Consulting Skills:

  • Build and maintain a reference-able customer relationship. Exhibits a sense of urgency in providing quality service to both internal and external customers.
  • Earn trust and credibility throughout FT and the customer organization. Seek to understand customer issues and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Adhere to FT’s implementation methodology when executing deliverables.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner within the timeframe established.
  • Holds self accountable for work products and ensures quality of end results.
  • Anticipate problems in advance and provides solutions to minimize risks.
  • Communicate the capabilities and design of FT’s software.
  • Assist the customer in making decisions to properly and creatively utilize features to meet the customer’s needs.

Professional Development:

  • Learn and continually develop FT consulting technical skills.
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with other consultants, customer staff, and third party consultants.
  • Keep abreast of (new) product functionality – strive to become a product expert across multiple modules.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years IT consulting experience and exposure to all phases of software development including: Analysis and Design, Implementation, Testing, and Deployment.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering and/or Mathematics.
  • 2 years of experience with Java-based technologies: J2SE, J2EE, JSP, JDBC.
  • 2 years of experience with database technologies: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2.
  • 2 years of experience with application servers: BEA Weblogic, Oracle 9iAS, IBM WebSphere, SAP WAS
  • Experience with client-based enterprise implementations and n-tier web application architecture.
  • Understanding of basic database concepts
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and learn predefined methods for extending the FT application functions and customizing the environment to meet specific client’s needs.
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of Human Capital Management solutions.
  • Proven background in writing requirements and design specifications.
  • Consulting experience is an asset.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Write documentation in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adjust to changes in priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Take initiative to achieve value-added results, within scope of responsibility.
  • Develop solutions that consider the impact on other aspects of the project.
