FriarTuck partnered with
Sofil to deliver an end-to-end flight training management system to the
Maroochydore flying school of Singapore Flying College. As the core optimized
workforce technology provider, we extended our FTRosterer application
to provide an end-to-end optimized workforce suite which includes planning,
scheduling, deployment and training operations event management. Maroochydore
flying school is an advanced flight training school with multiple Lear
Jet 45, a Flight Simulator and a Flight Simulation Training Device. Our
engine is able to solve scheduling and deployment simultaneously and
our planning integrates tightly with the scheduling to insert the necessary
check and training (flight licenses) for the instructors into the training
schedule.

Being a highly regulated industry where each training resource costs over a few millions,
the main challenge for the school is to meet the flight regulatory requirements and yet at
the same time, achieve high resource utilization and maintain high throughput of trainees
completing the courses.
The optimization criteria are composed of high trainee throughput, high instructor and training
resource utilization and maximizing instructors and trainees preferences. FriarTuck also re-engineered
the workflow such that all approved rosters would be legally valid. Previously, there is no
guarantee that the training schedule would meet all legal regulations and violating the regulation
in the worst case could lead to revoking of school training license and hurt the main company,
Singapore Airline, reputation. Implementing the optimized workforce suite from FriarTuck has
allowed SFC Maroochydore flying school to pursue efficient and effective training operations
without worrying about violating flight regulation. Not counting the improved training operations,
having zero air regulation violation is itself worth the investment in our system.
