FriarTuck has diversified its unique staff rostering solution, the FTStaffRosterer, to encompass doctors’ rostering at hospitals and healthcare institutions. The new version of the software is currently undergoing trial test at the National University Hospital’s Accidents and Emergency Department with encouraging results.

At NUH A&E the software is being used to generate the senior and junior doctors’ rosters on a monthly basis. The software combines the most advanced combinatorial optimization technologies to come up with an optimized roster that covers the basic departmental needs in terms of doctors and minimizes mismatches, in a matter of minutes. It has a huge impact in terms of cost saving because previously the same work was delegated to a specialist doctor, who needed a couple of days to come up with a roster that still was unable to cover the departmental requirements.

Instead, with FTStaffRosterer the whole rostering process has been reduced to just a few minutes once all data and constraints have been keyed in. This is complemented by the fact that the generated rosters are far superior in terms of optimality and covering departmental requirements as compared to their manually done counterparts.
