OWM Modules
Key modules of the OWM suite include the following:

Scheduling
Scheduling module transforms the complex and time-consuming tasks of workforce scheduling into a synchronized, well-managed and optimized process. Unlike other products that employ time-consuming manual techniques or rules-based algorithms to generate simplistic schedules, FriarTuck’s breakthrough mathematical techniques enable rapid optimization based on multiple complex factors. These techniques assess millions of potential solutions to determine the single solution that is better than any other based on the solution’s ability to meet particular objectives — the ‘optimal solution’.

This module takes account simultaneously of critical factors such as staff skill mix, staff shift bidding preferences, staff fatigue, staffing regulations, and process/staffing needs. It is powered by FriarTuck’s award-winning optimization engine, FTSolverTM, enabling extensive statistics on the quality of the generated schedules, facilities for amending schedules after generation, and extensive consistency checks and reporting.

OWM's optimization engine provides consistency checks in real time to any changes made to the schedule, pin pointing the effects of such changes, the resulting deficiencies, facilitating what-if-analysis. The solver messages panel displays the scheduling issues that the solver detected, highlighting the violations.

Data Collection
This module allows OWM collect labor data, staff preferences and business rules from various employees. Automated data collection helps eliminate transcription errors inherent in manual timesheet processes. This module can improve the accuracy of employee information and labor data by engaging employees and making them part of the solution.

Key features of the module includes:

  • Allows users to view and edit information pertaining to the specific particulars and qualifications that include name, staff type, experience, skill level, language proficiency, etc. — used for the scheduling process.
  • Supports a unique point based shift bidding system to eliminate favoritism and bias from the scheduling process. It empowers staff to state their shift preferences using the bid points to their credit for each planning period, and grants preferences fairly over months and years.
  • Allows the manager to specify how many staff members are needed in each shift of the scheduling period, fine-grained to different designations, experience levels and shifts, even language proficiency, to capture very detailed skill-mix demands.
  • The electronic schedules saved in the system are easily retrievable for the past planning periods ranging 5-7 years, to meet regulatory stipulations. They carry time and date stamps and the system allows for audit trail. Tthus eliminates the need for maintaining cumbersome paper based rosters.

Tracking
The tracking module allowst allows staff, managers and management to track workforce related information effectively such as leaves, schedules, claims, work hours and statutory holidays.

Labor Forecasting
This module determines the size and the composition of the staff required to meet quality of service targets based on staffing demand coupled with enterprise goals.

Key features of the module includes:

  • Equitable allocation of staffing resources
  • Provides basis for staff assignments
  • Evaluate skill-mix requirements
  • Automated on-unit demand (patient, sales, etc) classification
  • Standardization of workload measurement

Reports and Analytics
This module allows OWM components to generate extensive statistical analysis and reports such as coverage profile, preference fulfillment and desired/undesired shift patterns. The generated schedule can be exported, or saved in various formats including XML, PDF, HTML and Excel. Such detailed statistical analysis facilitates the management to take more informed decisions while making changes to their scheduling practices, hiring, training, and other HR activities and better meeting the corporate objectives.

Key features of the module includes:

  • Support various formats including XML, HTML and Excel.
  • Extensive analytics and reports
  • Real-time data improves decision-making process
  • Drill down for accurate and insightful analysis
